So I really wanted to Nerd War with this guy online but I also didn't want to be a total asshole, so I've decided to take my answer and put it here.
Here's the sitch:
My sister posts on Facbook: Can I just live in the Marvel Universe?
To which I reply: Can I come too?
And then one of her friends posts: Um, literally metahuman disaster happens almost daily in the MCU, almost every city has been destroyed at some point and literally everything is fucked most of the time. You SURE?
And now my rant to put him straight: You make a good point; however, I have to
call you out on a technicality. MCU is the dedicated initalism for Marvel
CINEMATIC universe, and barring Fury’s Big Week which was actually a comic book
subsidiary for the cinematic universe, therefore rendering it nonapplicable to
my proceeding point, the timeline of the movies doesn’t have catastrophic
events occurring daily. Although you are correct in pointing out the dangers of
such a universe. However, I raise you that we have brewing wars, ebola, and
increasing amounts of pollution and waste, so at least in MCU you’d have a
higher chance of dying of something cooler.
